Postnatal yoga (10 week course)
This group is for postnatal women (women who have given birth 6 weeks to 1 year previously).

Often women are unable to start until 6 months have lapsed after their birth, when they feel more confident about leaving their baby for an hour. There is no time limit to starting.

The class is for 1 hour and so is designed with these women in mind.

The constituents of this class are:
  1. Understanding the need to regain strength, stability and tone after birth
  2. Recharging the women's batteries, as they too need to be nourished and nurtured
  3. Learning that if the mother is calm and relaxed generally the baby is calm and relaxed
  4. Strengthening the ligaments. The relaxing hormones that helped the women pelvic ligaments to soften for the birth are now no longer present, and so she may feel less supple and stiffness can ensue. Gentle yoga can help keep flexibility, whilst encouraging tone and realignment of the body
  5. The ever-growing baby resulting in postural problems. Stiff breastfeeding shoulders are particularly common
  6. One hour of your time to relax properly
  7. Concentration on pelvic floor exercises, core stability work and strengthening the abdominal muscles
  8. Postnatal issues that may come up. The discussion of certain issues may become the basis for that day's practise
  9. Offering a lot of support to new mothers
